▣ Steel-Carbon Steel

Refers to a steel containing 0.05 to 2.1% carbon as an alloy of iron and carbon. According to the use, an appropriate carbon amount may be selected and used. Although it contains silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur as an impurity, it means the thing containing 0.05 to 2.1% of carbon which can be heat-treated in the alloy of iron and carbon. As shown in the state diagram, when the structure changes around the place where the amount of carbon is 0.9%, and there is less carbon than this, there is a relatively soft iron phase containing a small amount of carbon called ferrite. A ferrite and cementite Fe 3 C is filled with a finely mixed phase (perlite), such as the side pores. As the amount of carbon increases, the proportion of this pearlite increases to become all pearlite at 0.9% carbon. On the higher carbon side, a pearlite-filled structure is formed between cementite. As the amount of carbon increases, the cementite increases from 1.5% to about 10%. For this reason, up to 0.9% is hardened as the carbon increases.


▣ Bar-Alloy Steel

It is a steel made by adding one or more elements such as chromium, nickel, manganese, molybdenum and tungsten to improve the properties of steel, an alloy of iron and carbon.
